A Re-Re-Re-Re-Reintroduction After a Decade of Reintroductions

Hi everyone. Welcome to Death to False Meta.

What is Death to False Meta? I’ve had this domain for almost a decade, so I can say with confidence that I still very firmly have no fucking idea. Still might be a graphic novel, but, for now, after attempting to make this an offshoot review site (while I was writing for Metal Sucks), a snarky tumblr, and, as previously mentioned (and still entirely possible), graphic novel, I’m going back to my original plan, all the way back when I first registered the site’s title through WordPress: a blog.

YES, A BLOG. A MOTHERFUCKING BLOG. No pretense, no gimmicks, no focus, no narrative, no intention besides maybe getting discovered like Diablo Cody did… a good, old fashioned Web Log. From back when knowing how to make text in italics was a skill and Friendster was this dumb thing like 5 of your friends knew about. I’ve spent a decade* attempting the jack-of-all-trades flailing of justifying your arts-related degree(s) through (admittedly, half-assedly) attempting to learn coding, web design, and Adobe. I didn’t get useless degrees to steal work from people with slightly less useless degrees because I wanted to write for the New Yorks Times and Yorker. So Death to False Meta will not be aesthetically pleasing nor streamlined in any significant way. (And if at some point it is, chances are, I still owe one of my friends money or weed for it.)

I’ll be updating this whenever I feel like it, and if the past is any indication, prolifically for the first few weeks then complete silence for months (if not years) before I change Death to False Meta into something else again. Either way, you can listen to my (due to COVID-19, similarly sporadically updated) podcast Bropocalypse Now that I do with my very good friends Courtney and Evan. I’m also perpetually working on (but rarely releasing) music via a still-materializing band called Woundlicker and as Henry Killinger (“he” does the Bropocalypse Now theme and “his” half-finished, fully abandoned album is up on Bandcamp. Though now that I spend most of my day in front of my computer at home, Killinger won’t be gone for much longer…)

I don’t know… come back and read this sometime!
